Choosing the Right Size River Birch
Posted by reuben on Friday, January 19 2007

Betula Nigra, commonly known as River Birch, is a fast growing, long lived tree. It has showy exfoliating bark that exposes attractive reddish-brown or cinnamon-brown bark colors. Multi-stemmed trunks make for an open graceful appearance. There are several varieties available at Hidden Pond Plant and Tree farm to choose from.

River birch requires ample space for optimum growth. Place your specimen in an area with at least 100 square feet of total planting area or in a planting strip at least 4 to 7' wide. Place your tree at least 4' from pavement and walls.
